Research Feedback Workshop : Strengthening the West African Philanthropy Support Ecosystem

TrustAfrica and WINGS, with the support of Philanthropy Circuit and in partnership with the African Philanthropy Forum (APF), the African Philanthropy Network (APN), the Center for African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI) at the Wits Business School, the Global Fund for Community Foundation (GFCF), and the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA), have the distinct pleasure to invite you to a Research Feedback Workshop on Thursday, July 28 from 9. 30 am to 12. 30pm GMT.

After kicking off the project in May (draft report available HERE) this workshop will be an opportunity to gather Philanthropy Practitioners, Foundations, Civil Society Organizations, High Net Worth Individuals, Regional Institutions, the Public and Private Sector, Policymakers, and Academic Researchers, and more to:

  • hear high level takeaways from the desk research undertaken by Travaille Ensemble Consulting to identify key frameworks governing philanthropy in West Africa, particularly in Senegal, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast 
  • access an exclusive preview of the first list of philanthropy support organizations operating in these four counties
  • work together to complete the list by identify missing actors/practices
  • start mapping relationships connecting actors to each other, and identifying concrete pathways to strengthening the ecosystem

The purpose of this workshop is to gather input from participants. Kindly find attached the draft report of the desk research. Please be prepared to join us with your comments, insight, reactions and recommendations!
