We believe that Victor represents the new optimism currently reshaping the discourse on African-led processes of transformative change. We first met Victor in 2013 and were immediately drawn to the important and innovative processes he was leading. Since then, TrustAfrica has supported Victor and his organisation, the African Youth Initiative, in their efforts to facilitate more meaningful victim participation in Uganda’s transitional justice policy and build nation-wide solidarity around victims’ rights.

TrustAfrica is committed to generating and testing new ideas, and as such, we are proud to support Victor’s pioneering work, which we hope will motivate youth around the continent. In Victor’s own words, “…activates young people to start challenging their governments to deliver these goals, starting today!”

TrustAfrica works to secure the conditions for democracy, human rights, and equitable development on the continent. We firmly believe that that, given a well-informed citizenry and concerted advocacy by capable actors, African leaders are more likely to address the scourge of impunity. We highly commend Victor, a beacon of light, inspiring African citizens to remain motivated in the pursuit of justice and accountability on the continent.
