Civil society meeting on African Union mechanisms and the protection of refugees, IDPs and citizenship rights

With support from TrustAfrica, the International Refugee Rights Initiative convened a group of African civil society organizations and experts in Kampala, Uganda, on the eve of the African Union's Special Summit on Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons. Participants discussed such issues as statelessness and nationality rights, which have been both a cause and consequence of forced displacement and discrimination in Africa.
