Where We Work: North Africa |
|
TrustAfrica works with partner organizations in all five subregions of Africa and the diaspora. However, we do not fund local or national initiatives, with the exception of a few very small grants for capacity building. Instead, we focus on regional partnerships that promote cooperation across borders and advance regional solutions.

North Africa
One of our primary aims in North Africa is to bridge the cultural, economic, and geographic divides that tend to separate this region from the rest of Africa. By promoting exchanges in the fields of arts and culture, for example, we seek to fuel contemporary artistic expression, forge creative partnerships across continent, and foster appreciation of our collective African identity. A comparable effort brings together scholars with an interest in the reconstruction of war-torn communities across Africa. Our grant enabled this cluster of scholars — initially from North Africa, the Middle East, and the global north — to reach out to colleagues in sub-Saharan Africa while shaping this new interdisciplinary field of study, known as reconstruction studies.
