Where We Work: Central Africa

TrustAfrica works with partner organizations in all five subregions of Africa and the diaspora. However, we do not fund local or national initiatives, with the exception of a few very small grants for capacity building. Instead, we focus on regional partnerships that promote cooperation across borders and advance regional solutions.

Central Africa
Some of our most resourceful and effective partners in Central Africa are working to safeguard the rights of women and elevate their role in society, not only during peacetime but also amid efforts to end violent conflict. Women peace and rights activists throughout the Great Lakes region have received training to advocate for gender justice and play an integral role in peace building. What’s more, they have equipped themselves with tools (such as a working knowledge of diplomatic resolutions and legal protocols) to hold government accountable on issues of gender inclusiveness in peace and security arrangements.
