African Philanthropy : Giving And Power

The APN Assembly is a unique opportunity. Since 2010, APN has organized a space for experienced and new philanthropy leaders who want to engage in a conversation that would enrich each others’ understanding and practice on African philanthropy by developing and an African-generated and African-owned narrative about different forms and models of philanthropy in Africa.

Role of African Philanthropy in Social Movements

Citizens’ mobilizations in several African countries, including Burkina Faso, Senegal, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Congo Brazzaville, and Madagascar to name a few, have revolutionized democratic processes. These social movements are often born on the eve of elections in opposition to recalcitrant incumbents and the will of certain elites to perpetuate themselves in power.

African Food Systems & The SDGs Conference

Food systems are a global and immediate priority in the context of climate change, health and resilience. This 3-day conference focuses on the future of food systems in Africa. The conference will explore the complexity, diversity and nutritional value of African food systems and launch an action plan and declaration for change for better food systems geared towards the general public and policymaking bodies including the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities.

Dubbed the first online opinion polling platform in Zimbabwe by TechZim (https://www.techzim.co.zw/2018/01/voices-of-zimbabwe-first-opinion-poll-platform-zim-join-now/) Voices of Zimbabwe  is a platform for and by the citizens to have uncensored discussion around their priorities by creating an iterative dialogue with a feedback loop which reflects the data produced by a small consistent pool of respondents in smart infographics. VoZ is hosted  by TrustAfrica's ZimbabweAlliance Initiative in partnership with Research and Advocacy Unit (RAU).
